>>>> Soccer coach and TV analyst Ángel Cuéllar: “I owe everything I am as a human being to the fact of being involved in professional sports”
30/01/2019
With a long tenure in soccer, first as player and then as coach, Ángel Cuéllar is an excellent spokesperson in getting across his experience as an athlete to the youth.

What is the most important value your parents taught you?

They taught me to be a good person and I am very thankful for it.

Nowadays, who is a reference for you and why?

I do not have a single reference. I admire many people. It is important to learn from all those who teach you many things.

What is your best life memory aside from sports?

The one I am experiencing right now.

What are the three most important values in sports?

Respect, self-improvement and accountability

What is the most important thing sports have given you?

I owe everything I am as a human being to the fact of being involved in professional sports.

A pastime away from sports...

Like everyone, I enjoy travelling, going to the movies, watching series in TV...

What advice would you give to young children who are getting started in sports?

Regardless of what they pursue, they should feel the passion for it. And if they do, it needs to be shown.

What do you need to be happy?

Fortunately small details keep surprising me, and that makes me happy. I think the key to happiness is to have balance in your life.

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to be remembered as someone to try really hard to be a good human being.

What would you tell the world in our Twitter?

Take dogs as an example. They are loyal and do not ask for anything in return. Human beings are too egocentric and harm others in the process, and that is not good at all.
