Marco Antonio Rodríguez is one of the most experienced international referees in the world. With his answers to our questionnaire, we will find the personality inside one of the top judges in planet football.

 

What is the most important value your parents taught you?

Honesty

Nowadays who is a referent for you and why?

God, who showed his love for us through Jesus Crist and his sacrifice on the cross

Who is the person who has influenced your life the most and how?

My wife. We are facing great projects together

Outside of sports, what is the best thing that has happened to you in life?

Witnessing the birth of my daughters

Effort, solidarity and honesty

The chance of knowing different countries and cultures

What advice would you give to young athletes?

Young people should get surrounded by top professionals, taking good care of the actions they develop

What do you need to be happy?

Mainly one thing: faith

I would like to be remembered as an upright human being

Marco Antonio Rodríguez was born in Mexico in 1973. He spent almost 20 years as a soccer referee in Mexico’s First Division. He has been the head official in six World Cup contests. He is known internationally for being the man who refereed the semifinal game in which Germany defeated Brazil, 7-1, in the 2014 World Cup. Currently he is a TV commentator in his native country and also provides assistance to a parish in Mexico City.
