Very few faces of Spanish soccer of the 1980s and 1990s are known as well as Abel Resino’s. He played for 16 seasons, between 1979 and 1995, guarding Atlético Madrid’s goal. Resino answers our questionnaire, allowing us to learn more about him.

Honesty

Nowadays who is a referent for you and why?

Always Johan Cruyff. He never left you indifferent.

My parents. I thank them for getting across to me how to be humble.

Outside of sports, what is the best thing that has happened to you in life?

The birth of my daughter

What are the three most important values in sports?

Sacrifice, determination and perseverance

What is the most important thing sports have given you?

I would say sports have given me everything. I owe sports what I am.

What advice would you give to young athletes?

Without effort it is impossible to go anywhere. Persevere and you will achieve your goals.

What do you need to be happy?

Nothing really. I just need to live a normal life.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a regular human being, who always tried to be surrounded by his own people.

What would you like to tell the world? You have 140 characters.

It seems we live in a very unsecure world, but there will always be someone that will try to do things again with common sense.
