The voice of Albert Arranz has been linked for more than 15 years to the top sporting events broadcasted by Onda Cero: Olympic Games, Basketball World Championships… Anchored on his vast experience, Arranz answers our questionnaire.

In today’s world of sports who is a reference for you and why?

Michael Jordan is by far my sports referent. His career simply changed basketball from all points of view: the game itself, marketing wise, TV audiences and rights…

What is your best memory related to sports?

The 2000 Sydney Olympic Games! Australia has always been my favorite country. Travelling to it and doing it in a professional way (my first Olympiad) was a huge impact that I will never forget.

What are the three most important values in sports?

Sportsmanship is the word that summarizes all values inside and outside a playing field where opponents and teammates gather.

What is the most important thing sports have given you?

The chance of experiencing it personally and in a professional way has become a dream come true. When I was a kid I used to play that I was a journalist…

What advice would you give young people?

They should be ambitious in a good way, without elbowing or tripping others. They should put all their senses in pursuing what they want. Having a passion for your work is priceless. It also helps you overcoming bad moments, and there are plenty of them.

What is the most important value your parents taught you?

They taught me responsibility and that has guided my life.

Who is the person that has influenced your life the most and how?

In my personal life, my daughter, Andrea, and my father have had the most influence. In my professional career, I would say Agustín Castellote, José Manuel Oliván and José María García. The first two believed in me when I was getting started. The last one did it in adversity.

What do you need to be happy?

I need calmness. For me it is very important.

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to be remembered as a responsible person, both personally and professionally.

What would you like to tell the world? Please, write us a Tweet for our Twitter. You have 140 characters.

Visit Sydney. It is the best city in the world. If you are young, learn English and do not be afraid searching a career abroad. If I were born again, that would be my destiny.
